Documents Request List – Naturalisation and Child Registration for British Citizenship

Please find below a list of the documents required for your application for British Citizenship & Child Registration. There are also forms that need completing.

For your application, we will only be using scanned copies of your original documentation. It should be noted that the Home Office will only accept original documents. If no original is available, photocopied documents must be a stamped certified true copy of the original.

Where a document is not in English or Welsh, the original must be accompanied by a fully certified translation by a professional translator. This translation must include details of the translator’s credentials and confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original document. It must also be dated and include the original signature of the translator. These original documents should be scanned and sent to us for verification before submission to the Home Office takes place.

Please note that the documents listed are carefully explained whether they are mandatory or optional. You should collect as many documents as possible and use them as a checklist to ensure all documents where possible have been sent as soon as possible. Where you are unable to provide the original documents, please explain the reasons by adding your comments.

2.3 Passed an English Language Test approved by the UKVI to at least level B1 CEFR. For this application, you can take the IELTS for UKVI test (IELTS Life Skills Level B1) OR Trinity College London test (GESE Grade 5 Level B1) – see link for more information Mandatory

1. Character Reference from a person who you know personally for a minimum of 3 years who has professional standing; and Referees must not have been convicted of an imprisonable offence during the last 10 years. Video Explanation Mandatory
2. Character Reference from a person, who is not a family member and who you know personally for a minimum of 3 years and is a British Citizen and either a professional person or over the age of 25 Referees must not have been convicted of an imprisonable offence during the last 10 years. Mandatory

4. Good Character Requirements If you have had adverse history, you need to detail this out. Video Explanation Mandatory
4.1 Good Character Requirements (Driving) NOTE: Your Driving Licence. Your Driver's License is usually not required but your driving history goes towards your good character. If there are adverse driving offences, please list them out. Mandatory
5. Proof of having lived in the UK for 5 Years (or 3 years if married to a British Citizen) (Bank Statements for every 4 months) Lawfully during your qualifying period exercising your EU rights. Evidence that you were here as a worker, student, self employed, self-sufficient, retired or incapacitated person. Video Explanation Mandatory

All documents should be scanned and uploaded to us to make sure they meet the requirements.

Do not send your original documents to us unless you have been informed in advance. There is a fee for us to digitise & scan your documents.

If you are posting the documents, they should be sent to our Contact Address. Please send this as recorded or special delivery for tracking purposes.

You are required to inform us. You can track your parcel with Royal Mail (track and trace) http://track2.royalmail.com.
