Brazil & South Africa Removed From Germany’s List of High-Risk Countries
Residents of Brazil and South Africa have faced some of the harshest travel restrictions since the beginning of 2021 and have finally been removed from Germany’s list of high-risk areas as of 19 September.
Other countries that were also removed from the high-risk list, alongside the two nations are:
- Bangladesh
- Botswana
- Cyprus
- Eswatini
- India
- Ireland’s the West Region
- Lesotho
- Malawi
- Nepal
- Portugal’s Algarve region
- Zambia
- Zimbabwe
The removal of these countries from the list means that travellers entering Germany are no longer subject to strict entry requirements.
Vaccinated travellers or those who have recovered from the virus can enter Germany for non-essential reasons including tourism. All passengers must fill out the Digital Registration on Entry online. To enter Germany, passengers must provide a negative COVID-19 test result, proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of recovery from an infection.
Third Countries That Can Enter Germany Regardless of Vaccination Status
Based on a recommendation of the Council of the European Union, Germany has implemented and updated its entry restrictions.
Germany allows unrestricted entry for residents of the following countries and territories:
- Australia
- Canada
- Hong Kong
- Jordan
- Macau
- Moldova
- New Zealand
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Singapore
- South Korea
- Taiwan
- Ukraine
- Uruguay
Countries Added to Germany’s High Risk
Although there were countries removed from high-risk areas, the RKI has added the following countries to the same list.
This means that travellers from these countries will have to isolate upon arrival for a period of ten days, which period can be ended for those who present proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19:
- Antigua and Barbuda
- Armenia
- Barbados
- Belize
- Guyana
- Republic of Moldova
- The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
