Travel Warning Issued to All UK Holidaymakers Heading To Spain

The UK Foreign Office has added a new alert to anyone visiting Spain at the moment due to possible unrest.

The government has alerted UK holidaymakers following cost-of-living protests in Madrid. Thousands of Spanish citizens have taken to the streets in recent days as they call for their wages and pensions to increase in line with inflation.

Organised protests took place in Madrid, Malaga, and Valencia last Saturday.

The majority of protests have been peaceful, but the government department has warned that there is the possibility that ‘unrest or violence’ may take place.

Entry Rules To Spain

The warning comes after all of Spain’s Covid rules were relaxed earlier this month, with tourists from the UK now allowed to travel freely without any restrictions.

Spain lifted all of its pandemic-related travel restrictions to all travellers to Spain from 21 October.

UK arrivals are no longer required to:

  • show proof of full vaccination
  • show proof of a negative COVID-19 test
  • show proof of having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months
  • complete a health control form prior to travel
