Top European Holiday Destinations To Avoid Europe’s Heatwave

British holidaymakers looking to book a summer trip and escape the punishing heat of southern Europe may want to get creative with their destination choices that pairs sunshine and refreshment in equal measure.

Spain, Italy, and Greece may be among the top loved summer getaway destinations but they are also experiencing a dangerously hot heatwave at the moment.

Here is a list of places you can visit without the scorching heat.

Oslo, Norway

The Norwegian capital boasts 22C highs and nature-coddled landscapes that let you cool down in sparkling blue fjords or dense forests.

The capital of Norway offers a mix of natural beauty and urban sophistication giving the city a mild and refreshing summer.

Visitors to Oslo can visit the Viking Ship Museum, stroll along the Aker Brygge waterfront, or relax in one of the many parks that are scattered around the city.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is one of the best places in Schengen to visit for mild summer weather, with 21 degrees Celsius being the usual high.

Since the city has a coastal location, the cool sea breezes create a pleasant atmosphere during the summer months, allowing everyone to do different activities without having to worry about the temperature.

All those planning to reach Copenhagen can embrace a laid-back vibe as they cycle around the city, savour the cuisine, and explore the iconic Nyhavn Harbor.

Salzburg, Austria

The alpine beauty, as well as the cultural heritage, make Salzburg a wonderful place to escape the heatwave.

Since the city is located in the Austrian Alps, the temperatures remain mild and pleasant during the summer months, with the average temperature being around 19 degrees Celsius.

Tourists can visit the Hohensalzburg Fortress, immerse themselves in Mozart’s world, and take a walk along the Salzach River.

Lubmin, Germany

Lubmin sits on the Baltic Sea and features a long stretch of sand, a rustic pier, Scandinavian-style houses, and a whole lot of maritime charm.

At the moment the weather in North Germany is in the high 20s which is ideal for sitting on the beach late into the evening.

Another advantage of a trip here is how close it is, with trains to the west of the country from London taking just four hours, and flights to cities including Cologne and Berlin available in July and August for £60 return.
