Restriction-Free Entry To Lithuania

The Lithuanian authorities have announced that all travellers will be permitted restriction-free entry.

The small European nation is removing all entry requirements from May 1, 2022.

In its most recent press release, the Ministry of Health of Lithuania said that all travellers regardless of their country of origin will no longer be required to follow COVID-19 entry requirements upon their arrival in Lithuania.

“From May 1, once the emergency situation in Lithuania is lifted due to the threat of COVID-19, there will be no more pandemic-related restrictions on foreign arrivals,”

Statement of the Ministry of Health of Lithuania

According to the Ministry's statement, all travellers can now enter Lithuania restriction-free, even if they do not hold a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate.

In addition, the same has emphasised that travellers will no longer be required to fill out the National Public Health Centre questionnaire.

Although proof of travel health insurance is not needed to enter Lithuania, it is recommended that all travellers should have a policy that covers getting covid abroad.

It is believed that the Lithuanian authorities decided to drop the entry rules after taking into account the vaccination and infection rates.

The nation has fully vaccinated 81.36% of its entire population since the pandemic started, which is one of the higher vaccination rates in Europe.

As for the Coronavirus infection rates, the World Health Organisation shows that Lithuania has reported only 4,210 new infection cases in the last seven days.

Internal Covid Rules In Lithuania

Aside from scrapping the entry rules, Lithuania will now also apply less strict domestic restrictions

The Health Ministry has explained that individuals who get infected with the virus are no longer required to undergo mandatory isolation.

Moreover, Lithuania is removing mandatory masks in public transit including in airports and on trains. However, travellers will still need to wear masks if they’re visiting medical institutions.
