More European Countries to Enjoy Visa-Free Travel to China
Over the last year, China has taken an unusual step of relaxing its requirements for foreign tourists.
Citizens of Greece, Slovenia, Norway and Denmark will soon be able to visit China without a visa for up to 15 days. This move is part of China's broader effort to strengthen diplomatic ties and boost tourism.
During the United Nations General Assembly, China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, met with his Greek and Slovenian counterparts to announce the visa-free entry for their citizens, while a similar agreement was recently reached with Norway and Denmark.
These changes are expected to enhance people-to-people exchanges and foster closer relationships between the countries.
This initiative is part of China’s growing list of visa-free nations, which includes 18 countries like France, Germany, and Australia. The visa waivers are valid until December 31, 2025, and aim to simplify travel for tourists, businesspeople, and students, driving tourism and trade in China.
Additionally, China has streamlined its visa process, removing Covid-related requirements and cutting down on bureaucratic steps, making travel easier for all nationalities.
Since the first visa-free travel entry was granted at the start of 2024, thousands of Europeans and other nationals have used it to go on short tours in China.
The UK hopes to join the list of visa-exempt countries soon, further expanding China's global tourism and trade networks.
