Spain Travel Rule Update: Validity of Vaccine Passport and Booster Jab
If you are planning a holiday away to your favourite European location in the coming months, it can be hard to keep up with current travel restrictions.
Spain, one of the top European holiday destinations, will update its travel rules from 1 February 2022.
Currently, Spain is allowing British holidaymakers who are fully vaccinated with two doses into the country but the rules will be updated next month.
Aligning itself with fellow European Union (EU) nations, Spain will tighten restrictions on inbound travellers.
From 1 February, Spain will only admit travellers with vaccination certificates indicating they have been fully vaccinated against the virus within the previous 270 days or nine months.
Anyone who has been given their last dose of the Covid vaccine more than nine months will need a booster jab to enter Spain. The booster jab must also have been administered at least 14 days before travel and evidence of the third dose must be contained on the digital or physical copy of the covid vaccine certificate used for entry.
With the updated guidelines, Spain joins a number of other Schengen countries that have already accepted the EU-wide validity period of the vaccine certificate.
Entering Spain From Outside EU
Apart from having to present proof of complete vaccination against the COVID-19, Spain currently requires all travellers to fill out a Health Control Form prior to their arrival. Each form is associated with a single trip, personal and non-transferable.
Fully vaccinated travellers do not need to take a test before travelling to or on arrival in Spain.
Tourists travelling to Spain are not able to use proof of recovery from Covid-19 to enter the country.
