Higher Costs for UK Priority Visa and Sponsorship Services
The UK has raised fees for fast-track immigration and sponsorship processing, effective October 21, marking another round of increases in the past two years.
Expedited sponsorship management requests for workers, temporary workers, and students now cost £350, a 75% jump from £200. The priority service for sponsor licence applications has risen to £750, up 50% from £500.
The new fees apply only to expedited and priority applications made within the UK, while standard processing fees remain the same. No exemptions have been announced, meaning business sponsors and educational institutions will bear the higher costs.
The increase follows recent fee hikes for Certificates of Sponsorship, Skilled Worker and Visitor Visas, and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
With operational costs rising, companies and universities may need to adjust visa strategies to manage budgets and processing times. Meanwhile, beginning in 2026, UK universities will be allowed to raise tuition fees each year in line with inflation, provided they meet strict quality benchmarks. The policy aims to strengthen university finances while ensuring high standards in teaching, student outcomes, and student support.
Maintenance loans will also increase annually, offering greater assistance to low-income households. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson noted that institutions failing to meet quality expectations could face regulatory or financial penalties, underscoring the government’s commitment to excellence in higher education.
