Virgin Australia Launches Middle Seat Lottery

Offering neither a window view nor easy access to the lavatory, the middle seat is indisputably the least desirable spot to sit on a flight.

On 24 October 2022, Virgin Australia launched the Middle Seat Lottery which aims to make the middle seat the most attractive option on the plane. The scheme is only open to those who sit in the middle seat during a flight. Eligible passengers should also need to be a Velocity member, aged 18 or over, and reside in Australia.

Lottery Prizes

Each week until 23 April 2023, a different prize will be awarded to the winner of a lucky draw. Among the innovative gifts up for grabs are a full-day helicopter pub crawl and a two-night holiday in Cairns including flights, accommodation, and a bungee jump.

Travellers could also win Virgin's “Platinum Velocity” frequent flyer status for one year in addition to a whopping one million Velocity Points as well as a few refurbished, themed gallery carts. It was reported that with that many points you could buy round-trip tickets from Sydney to Melbourne 64 times.

The prize of the week will be posted on the Virgin Australia website.
