Graduate Route Visa (previously Tier 1 Post Study Work Visas).
The Graduate Route visa is the reincarnation of the Tier 1 post-study work visa in the UK. As an immigration route, this also replaced the following routes:
- Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) – closed on 6th April 2012
- Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme (FTWSS/WISS)
- Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme (SEGS), and
- International Graduates Scheme (IGS)
This visa route allows International Students to work in the UK for two years after completing their studies. This route is ideal as you do not need a sponsor to work.
This route also allows those that have completed their PHDs.

The UK immigration Tier 1 routes available to exceptionally talented and highly skilled workers, investors and entrepreneurs wanting to work in the UK. You should read the eligibility requirements for your category in full before making an application. UK Tier 1 visa is for individuals with a combination of skills, educational qualifications and work experience, referred to as attributes. Tier 1 highly skilled workers, investors, entrepreneurs and recent graduates visas replace the previous Highly Skilled Migrant (HSMP), self employed lawyers, writers composers & artists, investors, business persons, innovators, fresh talent: working in Scotland and the international Graduates scheme (IGS).
Once approved, you can live and work in the UK for any employer you like. You do not need to obtain sponsorship from an employer. You may also set up in business.
