British Airways Cancels All Summer 2025 Routes from Southampton Airport

British Airways (BA) is discontinuing its summer 2025 services from Southampton Airport, situated on England's south coast.

Through its subsidiary, BA CityFlyer, the airline currently operates weekend summer flights from Southampton to Bergerac in France, Faro in Portugal, as well as Malaga and Palma de Majorca in Spain. During the winter, BA also offers routes to Bergerac and Chambery, France.

If you were hoping to jet off to sunny destinations like Malaga, Majorca, or even a weekend escape to Dublin from Southampton, you might need to rethink your travel plans.

In a brief statement, BA confirmed it will be “suspending our summer 2025 operations from Southampton Airport” but didn’t specify the reason behind the decision.

While it’s disappointing news to travellers, the airline assured those impacted by the cancellations will be contacted directly with options for refunds or rebookings on alternative flights.

What’s Next for Southampton Airport?

Southampton Airport isn’t taking the news lightly. A spokesperson acknowledged the setback but reassured travellers that they are already in discussions with other airlines to fill the gap left by BA.

“It’s always disappointing when a route is removed,” they said. “However, we are constantly in talks with airlines to introduce new services, including routes that may replace those withdrawn by British Airways.”

Before you panic about your holiday plans, rest assured there are still plenty of airlines flying out of Southampton Airport. Six carriers operate at the airport namely Loganair, Aer Lingus, Blue Islands, Aurigny, easyJet, and KLM and all offer flights to popular destinations across Europe, including Spain, Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands. So while BA may be taking a break, your next getaway is still within reach.
