France Travel Warning for UK Travellers

As half term begins for many families in the UK, those travelling to France could see their plans disrupted.

Holidaymakers travelling to France from the UK have been given a warning to “expect disruption”.

The UK Foreign Office has warned that planned strike action will take place in France on 18 October 2022. The strikes will take place across a number of different sectors which could affect travel throughout the country.

Workers at French refineries have been striking over pay for weeks resulting in fuel shortages at pumps across France.

French Transport Minister, Clement Beaune, has said that it is likely it will take two weeks for supplies to normalise after all strikes have ended.

The UK Foreign Office is also warning that “some fuel station operators are limiting how much you can buy” at French petrol stations.

Covid Entry Rules To France

As of 1 August 2022, all coronavirus restrictions for travellers visiting France have been lifted. They no longer need to present proof of vaccination, fill out forms prior to travel or show proof of a negative PCR or antigen test.

Rules are the same for all travellers regardless of Covid-19 vaccination status. Although if you test positive whilst in France, and you're fully vaccinated or had Covid in the last four months, you must self-isolate.

If you are not vaccinated or haven't had Covid in the last four months, you will need to be isolated for 10 days. Face masks are also no longer mandatory but may be required to wear them in individual establishments.
