UK Invites Indian Professionals Via Lottery System

The United Kingdom government has initiated an opportunity for numerous young Indian nationals to relocate to the UK through the India Young Professionals Scheme.

The inaugural ballot for the year is now live and is set to conclude at 2:30 pm Indian Standard Time on February 22, 2024. Eligible Indian citizens can participate at any time during the open ballot period.

A total of 3,000 slots are available for the India Young Professionals Scheme visa in 2024. The majority of these openings will be accessible through the February ballot, with the remaining slots to be released in a subsequent ballot scheduled for July.

UK-India Young Professionals Scheme

The India Young Professionals Scheme visa is designed for Indian citizens aged between 18 and 30, allowing them to live and work in the UK for a maximum duration of 2 years.

Applicants must secure selection in the India Young Professionals Scheme ballot before proceeding to apply for this visa.

To enter the ballot, individuals must confirm their eligibility for the visa.

Eligibility criteria for an India Young Professionals Scheme visa include:

  • Being an Indian citizen.
  • Falling within the age range of 18 to 30.
  • Possessing a qualifying qualification at bachelor's degree level or higher (Regulated Qualifications Framework level 6, 7, or 8).
  • Holding savings amounting to £2,530 to sustain oneself in the UK.
  • Not having any dependent children under the age of 18 residing with or financially supported by the applicant.

How to Participate in the Ballot

Interested individuals must register for the India Young Professionals Scheme ballot online on the GOV.UK website.

Participation in the ballot is free, but individuals should only enter if they intend to apply for the visa for £298, and can meet the financial, educational, and other prerequisites. Eligibility verification can be conducted before applying.

During the application process, participants are required to provide the following details:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Passport details
  • Scan or photo of the passport
  • Phone number
  • Email address

Each person is permitted to submit only one entry per ballot. Any additional attempts to enter will not be considered.

Selections will be made randomly, with the results communicated via email within two weeks of the ballot's closure.

Successful Applicants

Successful applicants will receive an invitation to proceed with the visa application. 

The visa application must be submitted by the deadline specified in the invitation, typically 30 days after receiving it. Travel to the UK must occur within 6 months of visa application.

If granted, the India Young Professionals Scheme visa enables individuals to reside and work in the UK for up to 24 months.

The ballot results are final, and there is no route for appeal in the event of an unsuccessful application. However, unsuccessful participants are strongly encouraged to enter future ballots for future opportunities.
