Italy Dropped All COVID Entry Rules
Italy abolished all entry rules for international travellers on 1 June 2022.
Like many other European nations, Italy has been steadily opening up over the past few months. The new rules allow travellers to visit the country without having to show proof of vaccination, get tested, or show proof of recovery regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated.
As per a reopening decree announced in March – when the country also ended its ‘state of emergency’ – Green Passes and Super Green Passes are no longer needed to enter venues.
“Recent experience has taught us that the summer has always been the easiest moment to manage because people are outside a lot. But we have to remain prepared.”
Italy's Health Minister, Roberto Speranza
Green Pass or Super Green Pass
From 1 May, Italy dropped both the Green Pass and Super Green Pass in almost all settings. This includes restaurants, bars and long-distance public transport, cinemas, theatres, concerts, cultural centres, and parties.
However, the Super Green Pass is still needed for those visiting hospitals and nursing homes.

Mask Mandate
Although the EU has dropped its transportation mask mandate last month, Italy will still follow the face mask rule and will be requiring people to wear one on planes and public transportation until at least 15 June.
Everyone over the age of five must wear a high-grade FFP2 mask on all forms of public transport, in cinemas, at indoor sporting events theatres, concerts, hospitals, schools and universities.
Children under the age of six are exempt from all mask-wearing rules.
